Great tip is if you get a cut, use a little Polysporin or something like that, heals quicker and cleaner.....

With all the damage that I did, there was no way for that to heal quickly or cleanly. My ortho surgeon had to slice from tip to almost the base of the finger to effect the repairs. The actual cut that I made healed up pretty well with little scarring. It's the internal damage and the incision for the surgery that are still healing

Actually, that comment was meant for the face slicer.......

That finger looked pretty nasty, not surprised you need an orth surgeon, little beyond the powers of a Styptic pen, some Polysporin and a bandaid...hope your finger heals well, how was the nerve damage?

Well, I managed to slice most of the way thru 3 nerve clusters. Dr Sanjay (fantastic surgeon) reattached everything. Feeling in the right side of the first joint is slowly coming back, left side feels fine. Finger still feels tight, don't quite have full range of motion, but I haven't lost any ability with it. LOL everyone, take my foible like an afterschool special, and learn the lesson. As Crawler said, let the straight hit the floor rather than catch it. It's not worth the pain (or the medical bills).

On the plus side, as I lay in recovery after the surgery, entire arm wrapped up, barely conscious as the anesthesia wore off, my amazing, silly, awesome 16 year old daughter took a pic and posted it to social media with the caption that I looked like a sleeping lion. LMAO I have NO idea where she got that, but she's awesome

I'm surprised I haven't flayed my finger open. I've dropped mine a few times and every time I reach after it even though i know better. Reflexes are too quick for the brain to send the message not to catch the sharp thing. Usually this results in an open hand slap to the razor as I abort the catch reflex. The way they flail after being slapped in mid air could arguably be more hazardous than had I actually caught the razor.
