It's unfortunate that you suffered the minor injury, but think of the damage that blade might have suffered if you hadn't "saved" it.

I had a friend who used to install window panes for a living. The first thing he taught his new helpers:

"If you drop a sheet of glass, DO NOT try to catch it."

My solution and one I strongly recommend is to have a throw rug by the sink. It feels good under your feet and if you drop the razor no harm.

I get half dressed before I shave, PJ bottoms or whatever, footwear is always moccasins. I've come close to dropping a blade, knock on wood. If I did drop one, I sure wouldn't try to catch it!

    You'd think

But for some bizarre reason, instinct tells you to try

Heard a kid tried to catch a big sharpened sword that was falling over at the annual Blade Show one year

Not from shaving, but from changing an auger drive belt on a snow blower.

Left hand index finger, shattered the tip bone and some rows of stitches but hey, the auger sure works now!
Go to see a nerve specialist surgeon next week as it cut pretty deep..

Watch yourself gents. Accidents happen quickly when we drop our guard, or best practices..
I will heal, and am still whole..

Sorry to hear and see about the accident. It hurts just to read about and see the damage--
