    Default Getting closer

Just got my Henckels Friodur back from being honed by Phil at The Classic Edge and have to say it is the first SR shave I've had that can match what I can get from my Fat Boy DE. I mean BBS even on the chin and just under it on the neck. I have been SR shaving for 4 months and finally starting to get there so don't give up hope, it can be done. Phil did a fine job on a good razor and my technique is finally getting there too. This was my first shave with a stainless razor and it will be a keeper. Happy camper.

Amazing what can happen when everything "clicks", right? Congrats on a great shave!

Right on Bob. Glad to hear that you're technique is coming along. A truly shave ready blade also helps!

Congratulations BobH. Your straight razor shaving skills will continue to progress and that is a good thing. Enjoy.

    Bob,

How's it going with the new Revisor so far? Any issues?

No issues as far as shaving with it is concerned. I just got a pasted balsa stop which I gave it 20 laps on and that seemed to improve it also. The factory edge, although shavable with, is not in the same class as the freshly honed Friodur. I suspect that a pro honing would put it right up there too.

Chalk up another great shave, this time from my vintage Boker Edelweiss honed by Phil same as the vintage Friodur. What can I say, very pleased with both.

Yeah Phil can put on a wicked edge on a razor. I do love his honing.
    Enjoy it Bob

A good honing can make for a great shave!! But the 4 month thing might have as much to do with it as anything! : ) Congrats!!

It's fun isn't it! It will not be long before you'll be unable to get a better shave from that Fat Boy than from any of your straights!! Woot!
