Sorry, but i have an other opinion.
Not every Day is the Same, and using a straight can vary by many Things (Soaps, Time, new & unused Razors), so the Result could also vary. To say that if shaving with a straight doesnt offer a good shave every time you better should use a DE seems a bit onesided to me.

I've been resisting lately. However I'm still unsatisfied with the sides of my neck, the hair grows completely sideways. Some days are better than others, I look forward to the day that my skills are honed to the point that their bbs.

In the interest of time and comfort, I will use my DE for my second pass (ATG). I am still learning to use my straights for my against the grain pass comfortably.

I take care of the back of my neck with a DE and occasionally if I miss a rogue hair on the lip or below the jaw.

Mainly use an old SE, type C schick, for around my mouth. For the back of my neck I use a DE, 1904 style gillette.

But the few times recently that I have tried shaving with a DE I had to touch up and finish up with my SR..

Perhaps it is just a matter of what you are more comfortable using
I was just thinking about this as lately I've been using my DE due to time constraints, but I do find myself wiping out my straight to clean up around my nose....and I thought I was the only one!

I have only been shaving with a straight now for several weeks and have only about a dozen or so shaves with one. I have considerably more experience with a DE razor. So I am progressively getting more comfortable and efficient with a SR, but still require some touchup with the DE if I want BBS results. Currently I can get about 75-80% done with the straight, but need more time & experience to tackle my tougher spots (chin, around adams apple). The DE razor finishes things off nicely in the meantime.

Since I don't own a DE, it is either the str8 or the beard. It has forced me to improve my technique rather well.

I switched over to using straights almost exclusively about two months ago, after using DE for a little over two years. I can get equally good shaves with both, but the DE requires much less technique and concentration to get the same quality of shave. If I am in a hurry I will use the DE to touch up, otherwise I take the time and just use the straight.

I used to. Not any more.

MOF I have one edge now that is just buttery, and has allowed me to get in some ATG where it was difficult before. It has taken some time to get there.
