Sounds like the guy who buys a new car and every weekend is out waxing the car. He just can't stop.

My question is why do you want the 2x a day routine. I know when I shave, the next morning I barely need to shave again.

I would second what the others said about shave irritation catching up with you after a while.

As far as nicking the strop concerned, you can sand the nicks out with sand paper and it won't harm the strop. Practice rubbing the leather before you strop with your palm until the strop gets warm. This will impart oil from your hand to the leather and soften it.

There used to be a column in Playboy called the "Playboy Advisor' and I recall one question in particular that seems to apply here. The question was "How do I know if I'm masterbating too often?" The answer was "When you start missing appointments." Shave as often as you like until it doesn't feel good anymore.

Yes, I think you sum it up. It's the novelty factor of actually being able to do it and trying out the various razors. This evening I'll give it a miss and let my face have a break. Cheers

Same thing here, we had to shave twice a day in the special forces (except when on mission), after 30+ years of that my skin is still ok so if you feel like it do it, you'll feel when to back off.

Right, and this probably does not need to be said, but do not go thinking that you will "tough guy" your way through it. If you get irritation, it will just get worse unless you back off.

I could never even shave every day, let alone twice each day! It seems to me that if you're face can handle it, then OK. But I would definitely try to ease off once in a while. Recently (as in two years ago!), I started to leave a bit more stubble to come out. At some point during winter, I grow a short beard (three or four weeks), then use my razor to shave it off. Don't know if I'll do that this year, but I like to give my skin a chance to rest. I agree with the OP though that a straight shave is a really good feeling, so I see where you're coming from.

Since becoming kind of addicted to shaving w/ a SR8, Lord knows I've thought about shaving twice a day. Just haven't done it yet but now...why not?

I have been known to try 2 or more shaves a day when trying out a new honing strategy. But even a "dull" edge can take off a 3 day growth with ease.
restraint is the issue. I pray that you have many more years to practice! Take your time.

I love your enthusiasm and can relate to the OCD of it. I, many times wished my beard would grow faster so I wouldn't have to wait until the following morning to test a new technique or a different blade or hone.

As a real doctor (not just someone who played one onTV) I can say, you will ABSOLUTELY cause NO harm to your skin by shaving twice a day.

Have at it. Knock yourself out!!!

Take lots of notes as a month down the road, you won't remember.

Sorry Doc, but I have to disagree. If shaving twice a day causes razor burn and/or bumps or any other form of irritation it IS doing harm to your skin and further shaving would not be recommended as it would only cause more damage. As one with abrasion-sensitive skin I can attest that shaving twice a day would cause some serious harm. If your face can handle it, great; others beware.
