I did it to one with minimal damage. I sent it to Lynn to get it fixed. I actually needed to send it out anyway since it had the factory edge. So it was actually a good thing for me.
From their stillness came their non-action...Doing-nothing was accompanied by the feeling of satisfaction, anxieties and troubles find no place

Hey Scookum, based on your avatar, it looks as though you should hang the facecloth over your face and not be too worried about knocking your razor against the tap (faucet as you people insist on calling them).
Maybe we should start a thread about the origins of the different words used in US and UK English.

So first question is - why faucet? I guess it comes from French?

Quick update: I fixed the blade myself (thank goodness it wasn't too bad). Honed the blade per Lynn's technique, had a wonderful shave, full of confidence until my mind lapsed for just a second and the blade stopped moving perpendicular to my face and instead starting a diagonal trajectory on the top of my cheek bone.

To be clear about this; I saw it happen in slow motion, I knew it was not going to be a nick - it was going to be a slice (much like my drives of late), it didn't bleed right away which a tell-tale of deeper gashes, I saw the flap of skin fold up onto the razor blade and thought "what a schmuck I'm much more deft with sharp blades". After lots of styptic pencil applications, direct pressure and cold water the flow ebbed.

To the forum's credit; I persevered the next with the SR and had a wonderful shave. I now actually look forward to shaving and I'm enjoying it very much.

PS. No wailing sirens attending my home either!

Quick update: I have been shaving with a SR for 2 weeks now and absolutely love it. After 3 or 4 days I had full confidence in my ability that I wouldn't kill myself and the whole shaving ritual in the morning is something I now look forward to. I can't believe I didn't do this earlier on in life.

I haven't nicked myself in a week. The pimples (ingrown hairs I believe) are gone. The shave is very close. I'm going across the grain but not yet against the grain. I have trouble around my chin and I'm working on that.

    Love it!

Oh crap! I nicked the leather strop - actually sliced it. Do I need to get another leather strop?
