Default Help with my lower lip

10 weeks into SR shaving, I'm hooked for sure. I really look forward to the pleasure of the whole experience . . . BUT, isn't there always a BIG BUTT somewhere?

I refuse to shave the mustache I have sported for the past 50 years, but I have reached shaving proficiency in nearly every location on my mugg except for right under my lower lip.

Always seem to have those pesky little stick out hairs at the end of my shave. As hard as I try I just don't get them. As suggested, when I feel the razor pull, I stop . . . learned real quick if I don't, I bleed. Is there a trick I am missing so that I can shave them off without blood loss or dragging out the dread . . . dare I say it, disposable razor?

    All suggestions welcomed.

That's a pesky spot for me too, my whiskers there are like copper wires. ATG is a must for me. The best I can advise is use a super sharp razor, keep the skin tight, use some slick lather and keep the razor angle flat. You can also use a guillotine or scything stroke, that seems to help as well.

I have that too. Actually my chin, lower lip and lower neck are the hard parts to shave for me. For the bottom lip, +1 on using your tongue to stretch the skin. Also, I have done ATG the grain pass there. That seems to get it a little better.

Yea, use the tongue to stretch the lower lip. I can't bring myself to go ATG there so make do with WTG, XTG and a pass using the blade at an angle going downward. Gots to be very careful with the angled blade if you move it the least bit back and forth you slice yourself. There is an explanation here Shaving passes - Straight Razor Place Wiki if you haven't seen it already.

If you are nervous about doing the ATG pass on the lip you can use your other hand to steady the razor. It is possible on the lip since your tongue will be doing the stretching. So whatever hand that is free will be placed on the spine of the razor towards the toe. This could provide the control to get the area w/o removing any appendages.

Keeping it tight and I find going across diagonally helps me get those last few hairs.

Being new myself I have found that those pesky areas tend to get less pesky as you go. These spots are hard to get to for anyone but after a while muscle memory kicks in and you know what you can get away with. Not that I mean you can learn to be haphazard, just that confidence equals a better shave. I am by no means anywhere close to proficient just yet, but from day 1 to right now I have grown a lot in my technique and skill. Areas that I used to feel a catch and then stop for, I have learned that - with proper technique- I can now shave through and get the pass I need to clear that area.
