Thanked: 8Wow...
On another recent thread there was mention of "wow" razors -- those that just produce an amazing shave. I may have found one of these for myself. I recently received a restored, "honed to shave ready" Wapiencia. I shaved with it yesterday and again this morning to confirm my first impression. It shaved so smoothly I thought at first it was so dull it was just riding along my skin. On inspection, though, it was an incredibly close shave. Same effect this morning. A superior shave with what felt like buttery smooth strokes.
As I had concluded, this isn't so much an endorsement of the brand or any other one thing. Rather, it seems for me this razor is a combination of ergonomics, edge, steel, honing and whatever else works really well on my skin and beard. Wow!

I understand, last month I got my hands on a ‘RED DEVIL’ JOH. ENGSTRÖM. It shaves better than all my others.

Or is it the more thorough beard prep in anticipation of an exciting new razor?

Thanked: 8All of the above, me thinks. But, I did know it when I felt it. Now, I find, I'm in search of another one. How many wow razors can a guy find? Lucky at just one or are there lots? I never imagined I would develop razor greed.

I have a J Wostenholm that is in thick, clunky homemade(by me) scales, has both a warp and a slight twist in the blade and has some heavy hone wear. In other words, not pretty. The second I begin shaving with it, though, it wipes off the stubble like a true velvet squeegee.
