Thread: Best Shave?

What was your best shave?
Not really asking about your closest shave, but asking what was your best shaving experience.
Maybe your mood, the time, no rushing, music, gear...everything just all worked.
Since I'm new to straights, I focus more on the experience. If I start a shave and I get a bad vibe, I switch to my DE to finish up. No biggie, I'll try again the next chance I can. Thanks for sharing.

mfalco, now that you are asking this, today was my best shaving experience. And not only because it is Sunday, the most relaxing day of the week. A day to take your time for things.

For several reasons I did not shave for five days. The stubble on my face started to irritate. So this morning after a good sleep I took a long hot shower, leathered my face and started shaving WTG. I leathered my face again and slowly and carefully I did an ATG. For the first time that ATG was also done in the area right under my nose. The result was satisfying, not really smooth but fairly ok and no nicks and cuts.

A few hours later, after a cup of coffee and watching television, I checked my face and noticed that there was some tiny stubble left on my chin and the corners of my mouth. I must have overlooked this. Still a long way to go but I am definitely on the right track.

It was mid-day on a cold fall day when my bail was finally worked out. I didn't look back when the bull said, "I'll see you soon." But he was right, I was going to get time for that one.

I could see my breath as I walked to the car. Mike didn't say anything when I got in except the customary, "hey buddy." He used to work as a bull - there was nothing to be said. It wasn't long before he couldn't handle the stench that was me emanating from a days worth of unbathed jail time. The drive home was cold and quiet.

The scuttle kept the suds warm as I showered and as I lathered after the best shower I had ever had, the lather felt better than any other lather I ever had. Mike walked in and sat on the can. "She's coming tonight to see you off." I put the blade to my face and smiled in the mirror. I always wanted Shaylin. "Do you have the cash brother?" "Yeah'" he said. I continued shaving. It was the best shave of my life prepping for Shaylin's send off. My last shave in the "free world." My last shave not being on a wanted list. I wondered if I could get a good straight in Mexico.

I wasn't serious ^^^ But I think if you were going to go to jail, the shave before would be the best... or if you were going on the lamb. Maybe the shave on your wedding day would be awesome too!

This was 100% down to the setting. It wasn't a particularly great shave in the grand scheme of things. It wasn't the closest or the smoothest. There was nothing fancy about my gear, it wasn't my best brush or my favourite soap. There was no hot shower or hot towels, no alum or Thayers... but man oh man was it ever beautiful.
