Dunno, I would not say pretentious. It was just commenting on the possible reasons why men are returning to more traditional shaving methods. The new Bond film has helped the sales grow-possibly. I mean it could be a spurious connection. Anyway, I would hazard a guess most of those new sales will turn into new offers on ebay in a few months. After the people who purchased them realize the difficulty in mastering the straight razor.

Well said Mephisto. I would imagine keywords such as " almost brand new" and "only used once" will likely be included in those future ebay listings. I often see such listings locally on craigslist and kijiji, razor, strop and all.

Thanked: 443I just posted a comment at The Economist, and put our URL there. Let's be sure to be nice to all the guys who come here having seen the movie. The ones who care enough to do the research that leads them here will have a better-than-average chance of sticking with it. I just hope they come here BEFORE buying a Kriegar or other such garbage.

Thanked: 1185I just wish I had a stock pile of razors to advertise " Just like Bond uses". I couldn't do it of course but I bet you see it on e-bays china razors soon. And I don't think that is going to help some guys find good razors there later. More reading and less truth in advertising as all the junk hits the bay this summer when the fad club is over.

Thanked: 983Merkur, the last I heard anyway, don't make cut-throats! I might be wrong, and I'm happy to be set straight if I am.

Thanked: 25In the article, Dovo said they sent the movie producers or whoever a Dovo straight but the one used in the movie isnt the one they sent because it may have been too sharp. But from the look of the razor in the movie its not a vintage straight. At least not to me.
After rereading the article, they seem pretty certain that it was some other Dovo straight.Last edited by TexasShaver; 01-29-2013 at 03:19 PM.
