James Bond -- Skyfall
Just got back from the movie. It appears that Bond likes straight razors. He shows up in towel and proceeds to lather up (looks like a boar bristle) then opens a shiney straight with black handle. Of course it is the bond girl of the hour that does the actual shaving. The last stroke from adams apple to chin is very interesting.
Anyone know what type of razor he uses?

I saw that today also. I thought it was interesting her technique looked like what a real straight razor shaver would use. Usually in movies you have someone attempt to shave with the blade perpendicular to the face. She had a steep angle to the face, and it looked pretty real. I wonder if they had a straight razor shaver consultant, lol. The razor itself looked generic, but again real. It did not look like a stage prop as in Sweeney Todd.

Thanked: 31As mentioned in the other thread, SR sales are way up (at least in Britain) because of the movie. I also thought the razor, and the shave, looked "real", though I only saw it once.

Thanked: 8I haven't seen it yet. Will the scene make my wife be more likely to decide I'm sane or crazy for taking up this hobby? No way she's gonna confuse me with Daniel Craig tho (or Sean Connery or Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan or....)

James Bond -- Skyfall
Can't wait to see it when it opens here! Rather, I can't wait to see my girlfriend roll her eyes at me when the SR comes on screen .
Surprised Gillette or Schick didn't pay through the nose to have James using their latest multi-blades...

James Bond -- Skyfall
The IMDB entry says that the razor was a rubber prop, and indeed, it had no visible markings. But the model was good. Probably about 5/8, half-hollow, round point, three-pin scales. I know little about modern production razors, but it seemed pretty Dovo-ish, if Dovo made any half-hollow blades (do they?). I'm guessing it was as thick as it was so it wouldn't bend onscreen. She really used it to scrape off lather. And I agree, the technique looked uncommonly good!
