They may not now but I did see a straight stamped Merkur somewhere a while back. My guess is that at one time they did.

In the article, Dovo said they sent the movie producers or whoever a Dovo straight but the one used in the movie isnt the one they sent because it may have been too sharp. But from the look of the razor in the movie its not a vintage straight. At least not to me.

After rereading the article, they seem pretty certain that it was some other Dovo straight.

Well at least one here, I saw the film a few months back and it prompted me to look into SR shaving as "sometimes the old ways are best" has been an opinion of mine for a couple years. The movie just prompted me to apply it to shaving.

    Default Bond is classy

From the dinner tux to the Martini (shaken not stirred), Bond is the ultimate in class. In my opinion, there's nothing classier than stropping your blade, lathering up and skillfully navigating your face with a blade that can kill you with a slip of the wrist (or a kid barging into the bathroom unannounced), or having a hot girl do it for you.

Everyone I know thinks I should get my head examined for shaving in such a dangerous manner.

I was hoodwinked for 40 years, thinking the junk in the post-DE era was the only things you could get.

The awareness of straight razors has increased so much! Why would a movie producer want a shaving scene so much that an actress would be sent to barber school to learn how to do it?

I'm wondering if this is a growing fad to shave the old fashioned way, or if this is the beginning of a consumer revolt against the high prices and irritation today's razors give people. Back in my day everyone shaved. The last 20 years people will show up for work unshaven, even dress up and go out unshaven. I've had a couple of people tell me that there's no way their face could take a daily shave. My face couldn't take it either but I did it because I thought I had do. My face can take daily shaving with the retro equipment.

I think in this modern, impersonal, technology-driven world that people are increasingly hungering for something simple, comprehensible and SLOWER!

Just saw Skyfall. I waited to buy the BluRay. Of course, I paused it through the shaving scene.

Here is my best guess assessment.

    1. He has already been shaved. The lather covers the clean skin over which she draws a dulled blade. That is certainly how I would do it if I were concerned about my actors well being and safety; plus they almost certainly took many takes. You just can get these shots in one take.

    2. The scale with center pin, and the blade shape favor a Dovo.

    3. It seems fitting that the brush is a Kent, and that is my guess; however, there are too many brushes with this handle and fan shape to be definitive.

Has anyone obtained an official response from the studio on this important topic.

I picked the movie up tonight myself, I haven't watched it again (saw it in theaters) but one of the things I was wondering today and I am sure I am not the only one on this one, supply has dried up it seems since it came out in theaters, now that it is on video, I wonder how long before the supply actually comes back again. Definitely should be interesting. There are razors out there still, but the choices are slim, and I read a post once that strongly suggested you not "settle" for a razor but get the one you want. Little difficult currently and I assume it will be so for some time to come now. Enjoy though for those who haven't seen it, it is a good movie!

I would say that one should definitely not settle, but bide one's time and wait for the poor bugger who picked up a straight after seeing Skyfall but who *didn't* find a forum like SRP or a mentor to show him the ropes to sell it on the cheap in a fit of frustration.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Let me get ths straight. You just watched Skyfall with your ex-B.I.L and your ex-wife...Then made disparaging remarks about your ex-wife and sharp objects while she's sitting in the same room as you...This is sounding like an odd sort of 'family' if you ask me...No wonder there are so many Ex's in the story.
