So this just hit me the other day. A perfect way to solve our traveling strop issues.

A mountain climbing Carabiner (clip). Can attach it to all those wall mounted things in the hotel room. Easy on easy off.
That's exactly what I use. I travel quite frequently and, many times, I am not somewhere with easy attachment-points for the clip on the end of my strop. A carabiner solves that issue nicely; I can usually find someplace to clip the 'biner (vanity cabinet handles, bed frames, cot frames, my buddy's suitcase....). If that doesn't work, a loop of 550 cord also functions quite nicely. You don't have to worry about it breaking...if you're puting 550 pounds of pull on your strop, you should probably re-examine your stropping paradigm.

As for the rest of my gear, a small shave bowl with a cake of soap, brush, and a 3oz travel bottle with oil all fit in my toiletries bag nicely. My razors get rolled into a t-shirt, and my strop gets laid out flat on the bottom of my suitcase or between layers of clothes so it doesn't get kinked. As for maintenance, I recently purchased a CrOx crayon from SRD that I might start throwing in my suitcase. It's small enough that it doesn't take up any room at all.

I put a loop of 550 para cord on all my strops. This covers everything that carabiners would cover plus much more (like door knobs). As a bonus it's just a tad less weight than a carabiner.
