Thanked: 13245Pretty simple really,,
If it is a good brand of razor then it needs to be re-honed, at least in your eyes, what I mean by that is you have decided the razor is at fault so a re-hone is in order... which leaves you 3 choices
Contact the original Vendor and have them re-hone the razor
Contact another Honer and have them hone the razor
Buy hones and learn to hone
I recommend the 3rd choice

Thanked: 0I received a real nice "shave ready" Boker as my first razor. It was not even close to shave ready. I almost gave up. I bought another razor that was sharpened by Lynn Abrams, a world of difference. Then I found help on this forum from someone in my area that helped me get the Boker truly shave ready, now it is my favorite razor. Point being, sent it in to straight razor designs or vintage razor LLC. both use Lynn Abrams for their professional sharpening. If it still tugs, (unlikely) then it is the razor.

There is also the "human element" to consider with razor honing. By this I mean, was the honemeister exhausted or sleepy, was this razor toward the end of a large group to be honed, did the honemeister have personal worries on his mind? These things can effect anyone's work, especially something which requires skill and hand dexterity. I have received subpar shave ready razors before, the true test is if the seller makes good and fixes the problem.

There is too much left out of the equation to give really good advice. We don't know your skill level with a straight, we don't know what you did to try and get it to shave better and we don't know what the razor looks like.
If your shave skills aren't an issue and depending on what steps you took to get the razor to shave the next step is contact the vendor and have the razor rehoned. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Why don't you use the "Ronco Shavomatic"? By the way, I love your spray on toupees!
