It really takes determination and patience. I am now with about 180 shaves under my belt and happy to inform I am finally able to achieve a BBS result, ATG and all. If I may add to the suggestions from other members: focus on a properly honed blade, proper angle, avoid pressure and master your stropping technique. Study your facial hair anatomy, I am still doing that. Above all, don't give up. It truly gets better with time. The so-called muscle memory starts kicking in at around the 100th shave mark. There is really a fine line between a smooth shaving stroke and slicing off pieces of your face.

Give your face a rest, I was really overzealous and forced myself to shave my already sore skin everyday. now i am trying every second day until I get better.

Using both hands definitely takes a while to get used to, but worth it, i couldn't imagine using one hand now although i have seen the odd video of just that. Give it time, and results will come. I still have difficulty ATG with my right hand in some spots because i am left handed, but getting there.

I am a fellow leftie, but I am so unidexterous that my right hand feels like it is attached to someone else or drunk when I put a razor in it and look in a mirror, perhaps in time it will stop but at the moment I am frankly terrified of putting it near my face.=-O

Ha ha, hilarious, well some things you just can't do with your left hand, like use scissors, wave to the Queen, eat a meal in India, etc etc. Have a go i say, just do your cheek to start.

Well, I do use scissors in my left hand, on the UK left handed scissors have been available since they stopped beating leftism out of you at school. But I just use wrong handed ones.
I would most probably not wave at the queen unless I was drowning.
In India it is fairly common to eat with your hands.
In none of these circumstances could I remove parts of my face. But maybe one day, we all need something to strive for.

Yes, it is very common to eat with your hands in India, but only your right hand, the left hand is used for wiping the remnants of said meal when it is done with, if you get my drift, and i am sure the Queen would certainly take the time to wave back.

That all sounds familiar to me too. Another slow learner checking in.

Hence the term cack handed. Waving is part of the course royals have to go through to be allowed out in public, I think prince Philip should be limited to waving only. With the eating thing, in the worst case I would end up with an unpleasant looking smear on my face and curry in my eye, rather than blood on my face and no eye:-D
