Thanks SG - I really like seeing your collections, the razors you select seem to show, what's the right expression, episodes from the past, rather than dates. I can surmise a lot of the fun and interest coming from the research into the various blades and matching the periods to significant events in history. Usually when I read about some event in history, I try to find the literary companion to it...for example, studying WWI and reading Remarque's, "All Quiet on the Western Front", or Somerset Maugham, "The Razors Edge"....I'd think having razors that people used during those times would be fascinating.
Anyhow, that's one of the reasons for me, that I always enjoy seeing your collections, gets my mind whirling trying to match up events in history...like, maybe Robespierre actually shaved with one of Science Guy's razors??? Who knows????

Old ornate razors are my faves! Certainly the 'Cossack' reference is extremely rare?
Very nice~!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Delighted to have this one, a late 1800s case for two straight razors, richly appointed. Yes, it is made of solid ivory.

Absolutely amazing case. Could you please show another picture(s) with the detail of the metal work on the hinge and key strike plates. From what I can tell they are gorgeously done. Congrats on the find. Wonder what the razor's looked like that originally came with that sort of case...
