Gillette TTO 1938 to 1950
Hey Guys,
I found this one at a local antique store yesterday that I visit about every 4 months. It was $12.00, dirty, still had a blade in her. Washed out the case, cleaned the razor. I believe that it is a Gillette Senator TTO, gold in color, 1938 to 1950,,,,,,,,,,,,,,let me know if I'm off, I'll edit the post.
Thank you for looking,
Hirlau

Thanked: 169That's an aristocrat. Look for the date code on the bottom of the head to date it. There would be a letter and a number.

There is no letter & number on the bottom of the head or anywhere else.
So it should fall in the date range
I stand corrected on the model,,,it does appear to be an Aristocrat,,,I finally got my images right,,,

IIRC a Senator is an open comb ? It looks like an Aristocrat to me too. IIRC the Aristocrat made immediately after WWII does not have a date code. May have been '47 or '48. There is one alternative model that I can't recall the name of, but it came later and would have the date code under the plate. Nice find one way or the other. I have a couple of those and love the way they shave. Not mild but not too aggressive either ...... just right.

Thanks Jimmy & kcb5150,,,I just confirmed with others for sale that it is an Aristocrat.
I'm embarrassed that I got it wrong, after spending 45 minutes confirming the model before I opened the thread.

No worries about the mistake. You got yourself my favorite of the older TTO's the Aristocrat. I am sure you are going to enjoy many great shaves with that beauty.

Nice Aristocrat. Looks from the pics like it should be in the '48 to '50 range. It has the center bar with a notch on the end instead of the previous "T" on the end. This was for the new idea of pulling the razor out of the cassette.
No date code puts it right in that time frame and it will be a fantastic shaver.
Great find.

Thanked: 169This is the only super speed style head I ever got on with from gillette. It has the mass and grip together that the others lack one way or another.
