Thread: One of the oldest razors here

I am fascinated with the two stamps. The top one is obviously a chalice. What do you think is the bottom stamp? It looks like a profile of a man with a hat, almost like something from the Vatican or Spanish Army.....do you have any leads at this point? I'm surprised no one has jumped in with some information.

Very nice period scales. Did you find out what period was it from? And what do the symbols mean? Just curious.

The scales are a bit late. They're modeled after 17th century, ones I've been shown from earlier are a bit more exotic looking. I may rescale again with more appropriate scales, but I may not. The marks are just a particular maker's identifying marks. I knew it was very old based on the shape of it, but the author of "Straight Razors: 900 Years of Razor and Case Excellence" narrowed the range down for me.
