    Default A remarkable Joseph Fenton

Posting some recently acquired razors. This one really stands out; that says a lot as it takes a bit to really get me going now. This razor is made by Joseph Fenton and sons, towards the latter half of the 19th century. It has a covered ivory tang and ivory scales, but what is unusual is the wedge. Highly uncommon for a razor of this era, there is a 3rd pin. Even more unusual, that 3rd pin actually connects to the wedge! The wedge has about a 3" long tail that the 3rd pin goes through. The ivory scales are unfortunately broken, so I will be hopefully managing a patch repair there soon.

Thanks for posting this razor;such a rarity is probably something I will never get to see in person.

I wonder if that wedge is pewter or nickel-silver? Seems like it'd have to be a bit heavy if it were pewter.

Not sure. If I got around to it I could do the old archimedes to figure it out (or just shoot xrays at it and see what elements are in there :P)
