Yeah, I'm liking it quite a bit. One of the warnings I've seen with 3" strops is that they may cup due to their extended width. I have not seen anything like that yet. And it strops up the blade quite nice. I'm very happy with it.

So long as they are hanging straight I have never had any issues with quality strops cupping. I have even had SRD and Tony Miller strops in the bathroom humidity with no ill effects.

I wonder if the strops I brought to the Chicago meet-up influenced your purchase? I hope so, because that is part of the reason I brought them!

I would ask Lynn for a commission but I think I'm dead even between the number of strops I have bought from SRD and the number I have been given through drawings of SRD donated strops at meet-ups. They are very well made, they look and perform great, and come in a variety of leathers that each have their own type of draw. No matter which one you pick (and the decision may not be easy) you will be very happy with it.

To some degree it did. I had planned on getting a hanging strop as I've existed using only a paddle strop up to this point. In many instances, I find the paddle strop easier to use since I'm often honing on the couch in front of the TV. But the paddle one I have does not have a fabric side to use. Even the modular paddle only seems to have a hard pressed wool for CrOx but no canvas/linen. After seeing some of the ones you had, I said screw it I'll give one of those a try. The decision on what one was more or less a gamble. I didn't want the greatest draw so I didn't go for the latigo. I read conflicting statements about the draw of the premium or the bridle so I just settled on the premium. I figured if I decided something was lacking it would give me reason to buy another some day. But for now I'm good.

The HPW isn't specifically for media, although it is well suited for it. You can use it clean and it works just the same as any other backing second component.

Good to know. I was under the impression it was for diamond spray or CrOx. Either way it seems to have been a nice choice. And by the enthusiastic response to this thread, I suspect I made a good choice.

You're right that the sprays in particular excel on the HPW. Apparently it helps smooth out some of the diamond spray's harshness quite nicely. Right now I've got the SRD crox spray, but in the future I think I'll get the .5 diamond and a HPW strop with the premium fabric, and switch the premium fabric with the HPW on my regular strop. I think I'd like the feedback of the prem fabric a little better than the HPW, although I don't mind how it is now. It's also kind of a pain having the back of your second material to have a media on it...it's good in theory but it's kinda messy.
I really like the draw on the prem I leather though....just enough!
