Default My first score at an antique store!

Finally made it to an antique store and got a real score (I think)!! I picked up a Dubl Duck brush and a Boker for $20! There's a couple chips towards the heel and it appears to have a bit of a smile towards the toe? Both came with boxes.

Looks like you made out pretty good! The brush looks new, great find.

Is it wrong to replace the knot with a badger knot? It was meant for a barber to brush off the hair after a cut, but I love the size of the handle.

Ok good. Last thing I want to do is potentially ruin something someone may have been searching for, or is a gem in and of itself just because the handle is a nice size.

In my opinion, if you wanted to keep it original you could give it to a barber friend, not sure if they'd use it for it's intended purpose though.

If you want a shaving brush out of it, you will need to destroy the bristles and possibly alter the head of the brush to accommodate a shaving knot.

Ehhh, what? This IS most definitely a shaving brush (indeed, for barbers), with a boar knot. It looks pretty much unused, I'd say give it a spin before you decide to customize it (because that what putting in a badger knot would be). I have a vintage boar brush like that and it works wonderfully when lathering in a bowl, very soft tips and holds tons of lather. Besides my Thäter two band, it is the only other brush I have kept in use. Of course your money and all that, butI don't see why you'd want to ruin a possibly perfectly good brush.

Yes, I have that same sized handle, put a 26mm knot into it (shimmed a bit). is GREAT!

mine was worn and not a duck, but also not a "shoulder sweep". Mine is "Rubberset" branded, black where that one is red. "200-4".

Or flip it to someone who "needs" it.

oh yeah, I'd sell that at auction...
