Thanked: 0I doubt the fella who gave it to me would think to replace the knot. But I don't know for sure. I will say the brush smells like it's been used meaning I smell the soap in it. The sticker on the handle says Boar. The brand is Surrey. I'll definitely try that deep clean. Thanks

Might be boar dyed to look like Badger. Boar brushes are great! The tips look split and soft! 2 tablespoons of Oxyclean in a big coffee cup/ mug. fill with water and chunk it in. Take it out an hour later and rinse all good.

Thanked: 20you could try Vinegar, let it soak for a while then rinse. I was/am surprised that this often takes the animal smell out of new brushes and cleans them quite well. The vinegar smell usually passes fairly quickly to
