Thanked: 169Bought another big Wostenholm
Snagged this friday. Awaiting delivery from the auction house. Large and in charge at about 8/8 albeit not as large and in charge as that monster I bought a few weeks back. Really have to give this one some serious thought on how much I want to spruce the blade up. Anyone have one of these with a bit less patina to share in this thread?

Beautiful! Wosties are awesome. I hope to nab a big one like that someday.

I can't say it's less patina but it sure is different. An IXL Washington Works, Sheffild. The tang stamp is very shallow.
It's only a 7/8 and the patina/corrosion has a sort of frosted zinc plating look to it. I haven't decided what to do with mine, I'm not a big fan of the embossed scales. If you leave the steel as is you can join PatinationThan ≠ Then

Thanked: 169I would probably bring that one up to an even satin. The oxidation is not really aesthetic.

Thanked: 169Blade much better than expected. Show scale actually a bit better than expected, rear probably should get a duplicate made off the template of the original at some point. It feels rather stable though.

What to do with it? Here's what I think.

The cracked scale is very repairable. A bit of superglue and care will fix that right up.
