Thanks Mike. There are 14 in the lot and not a junk razor among them. That rust spot on the last Freddie is the worst thing of the whole bunch aside from a couple of bug bites. I've gambled and lost on a bunch of lots. It's nice to win for a change. Of course I've been letting a lot more of them go lately.
Nice lot Paul.
Great grab Paul. You did great.
Yeah I have a few that are windchime candidates myself. People who owned those must have really loved them. Or maybe barbers used those a lot. Or maybe some didn't hold an edge very well. I've never really had that issue with F Rs before but maybe some did.
Anyway Mike here's a closer look after a little scraping with the SE and a few minutes with the 3M. I haven't even begun to sand yet.

A closer look shows there is almost no noticeable hone wear

Somebody crashed the stabilizer a little bit that will sand out easily. This one has been unpinned before. Who knows, maybe a scale repair or something because I can't see signs of grinding. Although the stamp is a little faint. Maybe some sanding happened before but you can't see it now. It deserves a full restore. It might be a good candidate for some camel bone blanks I've been saving for just the right razor. I'm still not sure though. When I think of notched Freddies I always picture horn. We'll see.
Aw crap! I don't know why I didn't see it before but that Freddie has a big crack in it.

Since I noticed it I can see it in the other photos.
Bummer....
Reground notch points often crack at the toe, which is what I was expecting to see. That however is a little less workable. Too far forward to make a sensible shorty. It may shave well in spite of the crack, and you won’t know until you try. Still a bummer for sure.
you could get with Leonard/Bouchie. He has soldered cracks before. I bet he would be happy to give instruction.
