If razors are well cared for they develop that deep grey patina. It can be replicated if you like.

Looks like a "Dragon's Tongue" more so than the typical purple welsh slate.

It is a 20th century razor, or at least post McKinley Tariff (1890). I think W&B was trying to reinvent themselves then once they were no longer the 400 lb.gorilla in the market. Interesting looking thing and I agree it is not as Sheffield looking or at least not what we traditionally think of as the classic Sheffield look.

Just odd to see the Swedish style from them, pretty rare I think.
Have you honed it yet?, Similar to other English steel of the time or maybe a little harder?
Wondering if there is a chance it was made with Swedish steel but doubtful.
