Default Powder Coated my Merkur 1906

I got a powder coat gun and oven for a different project.

For giggles, I thought I'd try it out on my Merkur 1906. I don't use it much, so I figured if I screwed it up, I wouldn't be out much.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I also powder coated a straight, but that still needs scales and I have to see how sharpening goes.
    That's a thread for tomorrow...

Anyhow, here's my candy red Merkur 1906:

That is the cooolest thing I have seen in a while, I like it a lot. The red and chrome go well together.

That looks stunning. Does it effect the shave at all?

I am not sure about affecting the shave. I don't think it will, since I didn't do anything with the bar, but I have not shaved with it yet.

If the shave goes well for you, I'd definitely be interseted in getting one of mine done! Don't be surprised at how many of us that will beat down your door to get that treatment.

About what temperture does the oven get to? I do like the idea very much. A lot of possibilities! As long as temper isn't effected, might be a great way save some severely pitted blades. Good luck!
