Oh, I've had that vosgienne for a couple of months now. I lapped it all the way to a really shot piece of 2k w/d. I've experimented with all sorts of buffers to finish on and have mostly always been rewarded with incredibly keen edges that are forgiving at the same time. Best so far was a mix of water and a loose mix of water glycerine, and some very light oils. I will try your suggestion when I have a chance. I also have a small 4x2 trans white ark that I never bothered chamfering/lapping as it is new in the box. Maybe I should suffer taking the sharpness out of it to have a nice slurry stone for the vos. The only reason those are not THE rage is that they are hard to get... That, and they literally give zero feedback. At least mine doesn't share any info during finishing. I have to watch how the fluid on the stone is interacting with the edge and then stop. If you go too far on that stone it is bad news. I've been going to it from an 8kish synth, so I'm hoping this coti can replace the post 1k synths and maybe pull the edge that much further along than an 8k level before it meets the vos.
