Display razor J.A. Henckels, carved ivory, World's Columbian Exposition
Hello Gentlemen,
I've recently been in possession of a display razor of the J.A. Henckels - Zwilling house. For eyes pleasure, I repost some pictures here.
The scales of this razor are made of plain sculpted ivory, and are 59 cm long, and 10 cm width (at the largest point), for a thickness of +- 4 cm (variable because of the relief).
The blade is 58 cm long, from nose to the tail, with a back thick of +- 2,5 cm, and 35 cm of edge (9 cm width).
The scales are showing Christophe Colomb in a central tally, framed by two cherubs holding a cloth. At his left, a terrestrial sphere, and at his right, a ship (possibly the Santa Maria).

This razor has been identified by the Henckels house as one manufactured for the World's Columbian Exposition (also known as the Chicago World's Fair), which took place in 1893.

It doesn't, but it's so heavy that I wouldn't give a try even if it was. ^^

Thanked: 3225So much for choppers. Now, that is what I call a razor. The last photo in the first post really give a sense size.

Man! I love Henckels and that is quite a neat thing. The blade seems made exactly like a real razor. Astounding piece of history.
Does the bit missing from the 'A' exist? I wonder it it could be replaced.
Amazing."Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

At first I was thinking there was alot of typos with the measurements, but after seeing it scaled next to another razor I guess not. That is huge and quite stunning. It would have to be extremely heavy. Did you weigh it? I am curious of the weight.

Sadly there is two miss, one under the "A", and a foot of the angel at the right. But it's quite negligible compared to the overall state.
It weigh between 4 and 5 kg
