Thanked: 2284So I met with "my guy" yesterday and got some neat stuff. Not exactly what I was hoping he'd have for me, but neat nonetheless. Looking forward to his future acquisitions.

I'm mainly a straight razor guy but I recently got a Rolls because it was very interesting to me. A hone on one side & a strop on the other. A complete do it yourself razor in one kit! Yep, ya gotta make sure you get one that doesn't have a cracked hone from the blade slapping it. For those who don't have one you'll know what I mean when ya get one. BTW nice haul!

Thanked: 2284There's a tone of these rolls razors in my area. I have no idea how they work, or all the parts they need to function.

Andrew, before I forget, I have several Rolls, one never used, but I also have a SE called Everite Razor. Out of Detroit but with a Solingen blade and simpler to use than a Rolls. There is a woman on eBay selling them. Her father had squirreled away a big stock of NOS and she is slowly selling them off. Have shaved with it and was pleased with a SE shave.

They're really cool! Each side has a detachable lid & the lids have each a hone & the other a strop. You remove the strop side to hone it Then you install the strop lid & remove the hone side & strop the blade. Once you're done you swing the blade up, twist & pull to remove the blade to install it on the shave handle. Many of these sets are either missing the shave handle or will have a cracked hone but there are some that will be ok & have all the parts with it. On the flat side of the blade will be a two digit number. That is the year it was made. I have one that came with an extra blade. It has a '48 & a '35 blade. These are very interesting razors as they are self contained & you have everything you need to hone & strop it all in one kit!
