Thanked: 3225I should have kept reading the the complete entry for SRD in razor makers. Turns out SRD was both an importer and a maker STRAZORS.com - all about classic razors - Peter Hahn, S.R.Droescher, Solingen, Germany. . My "guess" is that if it is marked Soligen Germany it was made for them and imported not an SRD razor made in the USA.

Thanked: 3225No it is likely not but shows the style of bluing employed. I believe the Blue Wonder was made by Ewald Plumacher http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...-straight.html . That company may have morphed into Grah & Plümacher but I can't find the company history. I think it is the Grah & Plümacher trade mark that is on the Blue Diamond's scale and tang. Sure looks the same but no proof.

Thank you RezDog, tuning fork describes the trade mark I was referring to on the
Blue Diamond.

Thanked: 4826The tuning fork is a mark of Grah and Plumacher. I did have a very nice example of that once upon a time, brings a tear to my eye as I recall the sound it made when it hit the concrete floor. I had just tightened the pivot pin and was preparing for the first honing. I have a couple of other Grah and Plumacher razors that are super shavers. I expect they all are. I believe Gotta was another of their marks too.

Blued is nice & I like blued but you have a to of life left in that razor taking it back to the original state. I imagine that was why it was called Blue Diamond. If you had it blued again you wouldn't want to use it but rather put it in a shadow box for display only & I believe in shaving with old razors like that. Another thing, if you did have it re-blued & you did use it, the bluing would eventually get worn off again the more it was handled. I't is a very beautiful piece & I'd love to have one like it. You have a very nice razor there!

The blue on this one is very particular - we had a good example posted few years ago, but apparently it was hosted on photobucket and is now gone. I may have to take a picture of some of mine.
I have a soft spot for art deco and this is the only razor that nails it perfectly, so I've accumulated a few of them for good measure

You are so correct. I have been keeping several razors like this unused. I spoke with my mentor and told him I felt like my mother saving all the good china for special occasions , I dont want to be my mother, so I am following your advise and my gut and using what was meant to be used.Work will never get done by looking at it.
