Looks like I'll have to break down and order me some Maas... none of their purported local distributors have it. Is it substantially different from Flitz and other metal cleaners/polishes?

I don't think so. But check your drug stores and some antique stores carry some. Hardware stores also.

Believe me...I've looked. Even the places that are supposed to carry it don't have it on hand?!?

Dzanda, I have seen some Maas at the AutoZone up here by me. If you'd like to come up I'd be happy to help you. We need to get together again! Hope you've been well.

Yup, many times when I get a razor in - and there is a blemish on the blade there will be a corresponding funk inside the scales. You would be surprised how many times a basic hot water bath and gentle wipe down will improve things. And the notes about the gold wash are true, be very careful if you hope to keep it. All that gold and a little blemish is ok, no blemish and no gold would make you cry...

I didn't realize that you're back! Welcome back, and I trust that your trip out west was educational and successful. We definitely need to get together!

MOTHER'S MAG AND ALUMINUM polish works great. Find it about any parts store and Wallace World.
