    Default Pike barbers hone

    Another bit picked up on a recent trip. The hone was in ugly condition with slight dishing but also chips to the top edges. Lapped her flat and beveled the top edges with a DMT and the on some 1K WD paper. That was followed by a Vaseline treatment. When it did not soak any more Vaseline the residue was wiped off and then the hone was polished with a cloth.

    Nice save! It looks very good and usable. Some persons condition them after a lapping.
    How to lap a Barber hone.
    The Pike hones tested between 6K and 12K depending upon the model.
    Barber Hone Reviews
    To find out what yours is, take a razor at 8k and make 6 laps and check the edge. If the edge is improved, under loupe mgnification, then you may have a good maintenance hone.

    So what model Numbers match up with the grit size? I checked and can't find any information on it.
