A quick update: Got it in the mail on Friday. Today I went over it a bit with some MAAS, because I figured that would make any defects show up better. It's not perfect, but I'm thinking about leaving it like this (other than honing and stropping).

Another update on my first restoration. Wasn't much needed other than polishing. I used some 1000 grit paper, then a buffing wheel to polish the blade. Finished this off with polish on a microfiber towel. After that was done, I examined the edge with a loupe, and noticed a couple of very small nicks in the edge. I worked these out with wet 1000 grit, then 3000 grit paper on a piece of glass to keep the paper flat.
I don't have stones yet for a final hone, but plan on taking it to the KC meetup this weekend, and will hopefully learn how to hone it there.
