Thanked: 884I started digging the snot off of it yesterday. Got pretty deep in places. The toe really got hammered as the pictures show. Still pondering about the treatment it's going to get. Once I get my belt sander re-rigged with a DC motor and controller, I might try to use some power tools on it. Right now, even as slow as I can get with the pulleys, it's still too fast for me to think about putting that blade against it, even with a high grit belt.
I've got the 1HP DC motor ready to put brushes in. My buddy has a set, but we can't seem to get together. Got a controller located for not a lot of $$. Once that's all together, I can run that 2x72 belt grinder at 1RPM if I so desire. Looking forward to playing with that beast again. I ground a lot of knives on it back in the 80's. Shouldn't take too long to get back in the groove. Belts have come a long ways since then as well. Looking forward to trying out some of the new stuff.Member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, participant SE Asia War Games 1972-1973. The oath I swore has no statute of limitation.

Can't wait to see that one finished. I like the grind on it. I really like the transition from the tang/shoulder to the blade.
