Thanked: 3795Yes, they are meant to be used, but as family heirlooms they are irreplaceable. They should not be dropped or dinged by a novice shaver. They should not be the razors to learn how quickly the temper can be destroyed on a buffer. They should not be the razors to grind away a century of hone wear during a novice's first bevel set.

What a great find - The Family Heirloom razors are the very best.
And the fact that you are interested means that they have a chance to go to the next generation.
Saving them from a yard sale or eBay or some other terrible fate...
We don't so much own them - we take care of them and pass them on to the next generation.
For me, there is nothing in the way of connection that compares with shaving with a razor that my Grandfather once used.
