    I have given this advice many times but here goes again.

    Unless you already have experience with straight razors, do not use your family heirlooms for practice for learning shaving, honing, or restoration. The likelihood of breaking one or more of them is too high.

    Buy a decent shave ready razor from the SRP classifieds or from someone you trust and learn with that. Keep your Grandad's razors safe!
