Thanked: 2284Some unique finds
I hit up 2 antique malls I frequently go to after work today and found these cool things.
The straight razor has me Intrigued and excited. It's made by Robeson and is very tiny. It has the numbers 2417 on the back of the tang. What can you expert guys tell me about this razor? I threw in a pic of it beside my other 5/8 Robeson for size comparison, just to show how small it actually is. Thanks for any info and for looking!

Thanked: 4827I have no idea what is with the tiny razors. Some were corn razors, other were not. I have a seven day set of Mappin and Webb razors, some are a write off but some are still nice. They are also very tiny razors. I thought maybe trim razors or perhaps ladies razors.

Way back in the early 1800s there were 'travel razors' that were a third smaller than normal size. That could be what it is, though I doubt it is that old. Old enough, but not that old.
What Shaun said about corn razors would be a possibility, they were common, but I've never seen one with a barber's notch.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 884Check out Charlie Noyes website.
RobesonsRme.com
The "History" page has pretty good listing of tang stamps and Charlie has some really nice razors in his collection. He doesn't use them for anything other than collecting.

Harry, I love Robeson's, they're great shavers. I have a few. Here are my two best ones. "The razor That Fits Your Face". Notice the 6/8" is slightly longer than the 11/16" but they have the same blade length, 3 inches including the stabilizers. They're mint!
