Thanked: 3226That is one very nice piece of kit, congrats. If you are a true "collector" it will remain NOS and get squirreled away for posterity. Not much fun doing that though.
The kit I have is not close to NOS and the blades were chippy. For me the blades were a pita to hone the chips out on regular hones. I have only done a few because of that and am waiting for the next time I am feeling masochistic to do another one up. You are far ahead of the game with NOS blades.
Shaving with them is an experience for sure. I found them awkward and unbalanced to use compared to my Rolls Razor. Like the Rolls Razor it is like using an adze to shave with and the angle on the blade is similar to using a straight razor. Definitely a unique razor offering a unique shaving experience. Enjoy your set.

My wife's aunt (in her 90s) talked of her father honing and stropping razor blades.
Wonder if this was the type of gear he owned? If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Thanked: 4827I have another set inbound that is also a Wilkinson Sword, but the blades are much larger and hollow ground, very similar in size to my Henckels Rapide. I know Dorko also made a similar razor, so in theory it could be any one of those. I suppose the little glass dishes used to colluded razor blade hones too. I think it is kind of cool to have a few pieces from each stage of the evolution of shaving.

Thanked: 3226Aren't those blades in your set hollow ground?

Thanked: 4827Yes the blades in my set are hollow ground. I have seen older blades that look much more wedge shaped. My blades are also very small. It will be interesting to put all of my blades side by side when the new set shows up.

Beautiful. I'd definitely be tempted to use them. I love how they still have the grease on them.
