    Default Greaves frameback (brass)

I bought/stole this some time ago. It didn't need much more than some polishing and I only used some white and blue on the buffer followed by some Maas. I don't know what took so long to get around to this but I wish I would have finished right after I got it now that I have used it. When I need a change of pace but not a drastic one I will be pulling this one out. It cuts like a Sheffield in so much as it just mows like an 8/8 wedge, without having to use 2 mirrors to see what I'm doing. It gives some feedback with sound which is one of the things I like about using my Ducks. It's not a lot of noise but it's definitely there singing in a low voice.

W Greaves&Sons stamped on the tang. Patented stamped in the spine. Not sure if the stamp was off which it may have been because it's so crooked, or if it was honed off. I tend to think miss stamp because what does show is right where the hone wear would be most evident. It may have been restored previously but I sure don't see much sign of wear.

The scales were a little rough on the edges but not enough to warrant taking it apart or trying to sand them down while it's together. I like it just like it is thank you.

When I bought it I knew I would be keeping it and now that it's up and running I thought it should have a special place to park well protected from the some what unorganized collection that is slowing getting out of hand. My good buddy and Duck hunting partner Chevhead is making some cool looking boxes and I got one from him. They looked pretty cool in the pics he posted but I got to tell you guys this box is built as good as it looks. Chev , I am especially impressed by the fit of the 2 pieces. They close up real nice and smooth and stay together perfectly. No slop at all and no chance of the lid coming off by accident. Very nice craftsmanship indeed. I love that pop sound it makes when I pull it apart.

The pics aren't so great because I am without a photo tent right now but I think you can see the 2 look like they belong together.I keep forgetting what kind of wood he used but I love it. Hope he posts a link hear and tells me for the 5th time what kind of wood I got again. :<0)

Hope you enjoy and thanks for dropping in.

That's really nice!!!! I just saw one of those on the bay the other day & almost bid on it but I have other things to be paying for right now. If it's not one thing it's another & when you're disabled, some people don't think about it & they think everything is just fine & dandy because their lives are that way but I had another issue recently that costed me a lot of money & it was totally unnecessary. Some people are so money hungry in this world, they don't care if you're disabled because they see the dollar signs in their eyes & it's a damn shamed the world has become that way or I could have owned that razor I saw!!! Just trying to keep my head above water & take care of my dog. Not trying to throw a pity party though.
Like I said, that's really nice 10Pups, I envy you my friend!!!

Stunning work, and classy photos as always. Loving those wooden coffins, think I'll need to work on one of those.

Framebacks have definitely grown on me lately.

I want to give it more face time and might put it back on the hones. Just been busy testing a small pile I had to finish. I spent some extra time working on the toe but stopped short of getting it perfect all the way up. Was just something about that much curve that made me leery of getting sliced. Had a hard time detailing the sideburns but it may be because I am sooooo used to my square points.

Thanks for the kind words :<0)
