    Default Escher Hone from UK

I was following this Escher hone from the UK for several days, it was at $88.00 right up to the last two hours of the auction, and I figured I'd watch this 6" plus long, 3" wide, with slurry stone, labelled Escher with box go through the roof.

Couldn't believe it went for $175.00 for this superb looking stone, and I was gobsmacked that I won it at this price. Will arrive next week.

    Was listed as:

vintage antique sraight razor water hone stone j g escher sons water stone

Excellent finishers for sure, I am sure you will enjoy it for a long time. Take the time to preserve the label side of the stone.

I've used, "Artists Varnish Gloss" on my other two Eschers and it works very nicely, keeps the labels preserved and dry.

Great score, looks like a y/g, or maybe a light green.

Thanks Jimmy - what's funny is I never intended to win it, never thought my final bid would even come close, so my jaw dropped when I won...only thing I can figure out is that the listing was too long, and he spelled, "straight razor" incorrectly...I had my eye on a Henckels razor that day, but this auction blew that away...seems I'm developing HAD now...sheesh!

It can be a slippery slope for sure. My best find was $265.00 for an Escher Barber's Delight, NIB where the seller spelled it Eschen. The box happened to have a scuff on the label that obscured the "r" at the end of Escher, making it appear to be an "n". Came in under most peoples search radar.

I've only ever seen pics of the Barbers Delight, with four people on the label correct? The Holy Grail of the Eschers...NIB for $265.00, awesome. How big was the stone? Do you still have it?

I recently got a nice Escher from a Dutch auction site for 80 euros (posted in thread What do you have in the mail today?) and toyed with the idea of reselling it. Noticed that Eschers on ebay no longer attract the high prices they used to. So I'll hold on to it.
Looks like most straight razor shavers have an Escher nowaday.
