Default 8/8+ GB Anchor Straight Razor

25 bids couldn't be wrong! I think it's shave ready!
For all of you that know me, I love huge razors. Anything with a GB on it is the holy grail for me.
Their size, their shroud of secrecy and their damn good looks, I had to have this to add to my collection. This is my 4th one 3rd 8/8+.

The condition of this one is the worst of all. I wonder after restoration how much of the width will be lost do to the severe pitting. It seems to be near wedge so some of the pitting towards the spine can be removed.

Can't wait for it to show up. This will be an awesome project.

Thanks for looking. Is there a sub group for George Brittain?....LOL

    I'M BACK!

Congratulations - was watching that one!

I think they are mystical shavers, mine's a 8/8 and it's one of my favorites.

I think you got a pretty good deal on that one, I was surprised it didn't go much higher! Congrats!

edited to add: a razor club for GB's and razor's with Anchors...cool!

Cheetah, hone the thing enough to see if the pitting at the edge is shallow or deep when you first get it. I don't mean to hone it to shave ready, or even set the bevel, just see how far you have to go to get past the pits at the bevel. I hope you luck out and keep the full width of the blade. Even if you lose a bit, those are heavy enough to take a lot of cleaning up and come out nice.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Yeah man! Thanks.

This razors was my forray back into the group...lol. I think the photos helped to keep the price low. It just looks crusty as ______. It was under 3 digits when I put the bid in with like 13 seconds left...then everybody wanted it at the last 5 seconds I guess...lol Go figure.

I will try to find the post for yours so That I can check it out

    Thanks

Nothing wrong with pits, I have many with it.

    War wounds!!!!

But like Jimmy said, hope none are deep in the edge. Maintaining that awesome size would be key.

If I hadn't won a hone by accident, I would have been all over that GB like a fat kid on a Smarty!

Hey JimmyHAD, Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I have a ton of razors and no honing equipment. I have some Mothers polish, a damp rag and some fantastic.....lol. If I stare at it long enough maybe it'll restore itself

Maybe I should start looking into honing equipment. Where's Wullie when I need him?

That's whats up. Nice deep stamp...I learned that term today...lol
Dude I want to be like you when I grow up. I like those scales too.
They seem to match the weight of the blade. Nice dude!

    Thanks for sharing
