The other day I was flying back from NYC and sitting next to the President of one of those famous auction houses.
Needless to say it was one of those plane trips that went by in a blur...
He asked me if I collected anything and I said: "Well, I shave with a Straight Razor and a have a few of them, but I would not call my self a "collector"
His response was: "if you have more than two, you are a collector"
Question for the group - he asked me if I knew what the highest price paid for a razor was, and I was stumped.
Anyone know?
Nice brace of Razors by the way...pace yourself...

They all look to be collectible razors, hence a collection!

It came easily as I had several financial hits in a row. As I had no money to spend, I began to work on things I already have.
Did not take long to realize it is better to dive into the pile instead of buying something I already have.
I look at fleabay now and say 'Nope, nope, got that, HAR!, nope, HAR!, got one, nope!' .
I simply cannot find anything to buy.

Very nice collection. I said to myself the same thing 7 is enough and I wound up with 14 at the moment. Well I guess Ill stop at 30 about 1 for every day of the month maybe. I have slowed it down a lot though but sometimes a razor will just catch your eye and you got to have it.
Don't drink and shave!

Thanked: 4827That is a nice collection. My plan was to find a few of my favorites and sell everything else. I have not been very good at the selling part. I am not sure and it ould depend on which day you asked if I said I was a razor collector or a razor hoarder. I promise I will get back to selling soon, or at least advertising. I feel like I have too many at this point.

Nothing wrong with too many, long as it's good stuff. Darkbulb has a sense of quality, where some do not. That is where collecting is at these days. Pay up for little wear and good names. Worn stuff, 'restored' stuff, "custom' things, value goes way down, IMO.
Something good will always pay for it'self, providing it is truly good. As they rescale and buff it to oblivion, It's not worth anything to anyone except the ignorant. JMO"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
