Chevhead, very nice piece. You did a fantastic job! I would definitely keep it away from the rest of the herd though. Not trying to talk bad but the blade looked like it may have started getting damage due to cell rot so please keep an eye on it for awhile............JMO.
It might be ok though, maybe it was sitting in an area that moisture in the air. One of my Otto Deutsch Hans was like that & I had an extra blade so I put the scales in a baggie with a clean junk blade for about 6-8 months & when I opened it, I didn't notice any smell & the junk blade did not appear to be showing any bad signs, so I completed the job. It is a very nice straight now.

Nice razor, I have never seen one of those before! It's amazing what a difference a quick clean will give an old straight.

I am keeping an eye on it.
It is in sequester as we speak. LOL
I do have material on the way and I actually got ANOTHER SatinBaby from evilbay the next day.
It had a pretty rusted looking blade but I just wanted the BRASS off of it anyways.
I received that yesterday and started to scrape the rust off with a razorblade and there is a crack in that blade.
Oh well no big deal. Makes it easier for me to remove the brass and not worry about saving the whole razor.
These are NOT that common.
I have been looking for the brass for a little while now and I struck GOLD.
Two on the bay at once.
Got them for a song also...............
I have only heard about them (from here) and I was lucky enough to get a good blade a while back.
Just needed the brass.
The scales are of no concern because I can make new ones.
Even though I prefer working with Ebony, I will do these in acrylic.
10pups gave me the link to his supplier... so it is on its way.
Did i mention I HATE working with acrylic?
ESPECIALLY CLEAR......

Thanked: 1184You got time to play with the acrylic having extra brass. Use it like you would any of your ducks it's not going to flash bang blow up over night. What you WILL see over time is little black specs on it that don't just polish off by hand. Time for ICU and acrylic then. :<0)
