Lockwood Brothers
Well, two razors ago I was sure I was done buying razors. Seriously, I have enough. Then it happens. I can't walk into the market with my head held high and lay my money down. What I have to do is turn over rocks, look in dumpsters and the like. There is a lot of information about this maker and even some terrific engravings of the factory, or factories if you count the other maker, Sorby. There is also some nifty drawings of the shop. This razor has been given a very quick wipe down with Maas. Most of the info on the maker as far as razors go takes you back to the Lockwood Brothers Pampa (a nice looking razor). This razor has a hefty spine, a super beefy shank, and a chunky tail. If anyone can add something to the history of this razor it would be appreciated. It appears to be reground but I really don't know. The scales look almost exactly like the scales of the last razor I snagged, a T.F. Bastett. This one even has the same white wedge. Ok, here goes:

Lovely piece, William. I am intrigued as to the fact it LOOKS to have been reground as to the tang, which you mentioned, yet the beautiful, thinly ground blade.
Sort of thing I love to see. Thanks for sharing!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

It is maybe not obvious from the pic that the spine has a hollow...I am making up stories about the razor now...long ago and far far away, later in the history of Lockwood Brothers (later than the date of manufacture) someone found a cache of wedge ground razors and reground them according to the tastes of the day. Then they slapped on some cheap scales...then one slips through the hands of time to my hand for tomorrows shave...I know, I'm just making it up...and will continue until I find out more. I knew you would dig the blade Tom.

No frown, a sweet little smile to mimic the minimally hollowed spine.
It is kind of a NOS regrind...aesthetically it looks kind of mutilated to me as I keep seeing a wedge grind in front of that shank, but I am happy just the same.
I also wonder about the blade being shortened as there is a lot of space between the end of the blade and the wedge...Last edited by WW243; 10-28-2015 at 10:05 AM.

Thanked: 4206yea, have to wonder how they were able to do such fine grinding..both sides at once, or one at a time. And on what kind of set up.. Nice, nice razor.
