    Default Norwich Cutlery Co.

I could find no examples of this maker doing a search of the forums so I thought I'd share. Goins' says they were a branch of the International Silver Company in Thamesville, a section of Norwich, Connecticut. c 1890 - 1934. Looks like they imported some of their blades as this is stamped Sheffield, Eng.
Nothing special about it except the condition. I expect it will clean up very well. A 6/8 near wedge to 1/4 hollow blade with a barbers notch. Horn scales with a lead wedge and brass pins.

That is a cool piece ! I love those "not very often " razors.

    Nice find and great condition.

When you say "imported some of their blades" did you mean just the blade and they scaled the razor?

I suppose it's possible they imported just the blade but my guess is they imported the finished razor from one of the many Sheffield makers.

Thanks, I did not know which you meant. No, I think you are correct that they imported the razor complete as the horn scales with lead wedge seem typical of Sheffield razors.

According to the University of Connecticut Library records Norwich Cutlery Co was in business from 1853-1921, furthermore that it was purchase by International Silver co in 1898. The international Silver Company was formed in 1898 by various independent New England silversmiths that joined themselves together to form a company that became the world's largest manufacturer of silverware.
    BARBOUR SILVER CO. (Hartford),
    DERBY SILVER CO. (Derby),
HOLMES & EDWARDS SILVER CO. (Bridgeport),
MANHATTAN SILVER PLATE CO. (Lyons, N.Y.),
    MERIDEN BRITANNIA CO. (Meriden),
    MERIDEN SILVER PLATE CO. (Meriden),
    MIDDLETOWN PLATE CO. (Middletown)
    NORWICH CUTLERY CO. (Norwich),
    ROGERS CUTLERY CO.,
    ROGERS & BROTHER (Meriden),
    ROGERS & HAMILTON CO. (Waterbury),
SIMPSON HALL MILLER & CO. (Wallingford),
    SIMPSON NICKEL SILVER CO. (Wallingford),
    WATROUS MFG CO. (Wallingford),
    WILCOX SILVER PLATE CO. (Meriden),
    WILLIAM ROGERS MFG CO. (Hartford).
Of course your razor was imported from Sheffield, but looking at other razors and knifes seems like they imported from many manufacturers.
