I thought someone might say that about the etch. Maybe leave the wear at the top and try and blend away the wear at the edge?

Yeah. Start with 2 layers, wear the top layer in. Add a layer. Just change the top layer from there.

See what happens?

Let's see ..... How some were done, esp in one of a pair so the writing could be all right-side-up as the box was opened.

I see, so it's possible this was one, from a set of 2. I think I know exactly what your talking about. The two would lay flat in the box, kinda like the Yin Yang symbol.
