Richardson Monday-Sunday
Hello All,
First 7 day set.
Been laying low trying to figure out the best way to make my RAD more affordable. One blade for $900 or a seven day set for a fraction of the price. Seven day set....PLEASE!!
Ebay said this:
"This listing is for a Victorian Era 7 days of the week razor set. Richardson, Lord Strelo (?) Razors, made in Liverpool. There is some light surface rust, and signs of use, but still a very well kept set of razors. There is a small crack in the end of one of the bone handles at the connector, shown in photos.
The set is marked Monday-Sunday. I do not have the key to lock the case.
Please view the photos for your own determination of condition."
I need some info on this guy and how people feel about the quality of the razor manufacturer. I didn't think that I would win but here we are.
Critique away. Have I made it to Vallhallah because I now own a seven day set. What do I win? Who do I talk to? I need to post these in the newbie section titled - "How to buy a 7 day set"......lol
Thanks
Cheetah

It looks like a nice set. I wouldn't worry about the crack. Definitely looks like a couple saw the most use. I would welcome you to Valhalla if I could :'(

Thanked: 3227Those should clean up nicely, congrats. Dollars to donuts those are ivory scales not bone by the looks of them. If they are treat them gently.

Thanked: 2284Well, it's not bone it's ivory, so you have a win there. I LOVE the blade shape, almost looks like Japanese folding Kamisoris a bit with a fancy top finger notch. Shoulderless grind and look to be a beefy grind as well...... Not a whole lot to be dissapointed in. I like em a lot!! Congrats on them.
Not sure about the maker, maybe Tom will be by, he's pretty good with odd makers.Burls, Girls, and all things that Swirl....

I'm SURE Tom will be by and probably surprised that I haven't bought another meat cleaver...lol
I need to start getting resto pricing understanding that we're talking about 7 razors instead of one. I don't even have them in my hand and those black spots are bothering me. Black spotting should only be on Cheetahs...lol
Still having no luck finding any info on this so called Richardson person from Liverpool. Somethings got to be somewhere on the net. I will keep looking.
Thanks for all the input

Nice ones, Cheetah! I feel it most likely that Richardson was a dealer in Liverpool, where many sellers, ironmongers, and cutlers plied their trade. Many Sheffield makers sold to these dealers and stamped names into them for said retailer.
Unless a maker's mark is present, we may never know the actual maker. Indeed, many such razors were made by individuals working 'on the side' as renting spots from larger concerns.
Good-looking ivory-shod blades! Yes, the cracked scale may be replaced.......Perhaps!
Give a close-up of one of the tangs. An address will sometimes help. Anything on the backside tang?Last edited by sharptonn; 06-05-2016 at 03:55 AM.
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
