6/8 Joseph Smith & Sons 3415 Dreadnought Point
I just couldn't let this beauty sit on the bay. I didn't even read the description. I just hit the BUY NOW button. I'm sure I'm not the only one....lol
Awesome looking razor. Of course it's not in the best shape. Of course the images are blurry but the fact is that that point makes it really unique and I wanted in. It's pretty close to wedge so that's always a good sign from a restoration stand point. I've never seen a straight razor that looks like this before.
Does anyone know where the description "Dreadnought Point" comes from?
Searching around the net, this is the only other one that I could find. At least I know what they went for in 2010...LMAO
What's with the Joseph Smith numbering system as well?
Any info is always helpful. Thanks in advance.
Cheetah.

Nice Cheetah, the Dreadnought was a battleship launched in 1906 by the German fleet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreadnought
Here is the only dreadnought type still afloat, the USS Texas ......... note the point ;
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The number was their trade mark. I'd love to see it restored.

I grew up visiting that old girl every year or so. Have climbed all over it. Took my kids a few times.
Such a sense of history as being aboard. Overdue to go back again."Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Actually, wasn't the dreadnought type battleship first launched by the Royal Navy in 1906, named, "The Dreadnought"...and then everyone else picked up its design and hence the class, "Dreadnought"....of course, the idea for that battleship class originated with the style of straight razor - a great big hunk of steel pointing forward....LOL.
