Default Genco SR Geneva Cutlery Corp.

I picked this up today from an antique store...A Genco Gold Seal made by the Geneva Cutlery Corp of Geneva, NY.
I am looking forward to cleaning this up.

Nice one - I picked one up very similar this past weekend but Geneva Cutlery Company - they used Genco later in their history I believe. The one I have doesn't fit in the scales so I'm guessing someone just repinned it in some scale to sell it.

    Nice find.

Or the scales shrunk. It happens.

I didn't know that. I'm looking for some new scales. I've made several scales out of nicely burled piece of maple I bought a few years ago and I still have enough pinning material for Maggards Razors that I picked up about a year ago. Maybe I'll just fashion up a set out of that and finish it off with some tung oil.

Geneva steel is wonderful. Very hard and can be pushed to extreme levels. Might be the best bang for the buck out of any vintage maker. Them or imperial cutlery imo

Yup, I was going to say the same thing. I have a Shapleigh with original gunstock scales because they have a Shapleigh inlay & they shrunk. The toe barely hits the wedge when closing it so I will need to alter the wedge to make it fit again.
