What have I done?
So I start out the day picking up a razor I acquired a while back. My mentor was nice enough to make some walnut scales for it and put it on a hone. Just in time to send my Aust to Lynn for my free honing. You guys from the forum are some really great folks for us newbies...
So, since its still fairly early in the morning I decided to travel northeast and check out some antique places. Somewhere between there and getting back home I lost control....
I had mentioned to Tim in the past that I was curious about trying a wedge and low and behold I see this. I checked it out and from reading here on the forum I had a couple of concerns and paced around for a while. I tried to call Tim and his cell went to voicemail, need to get his home #.
I think to myself that for $39 dollars firm someone could probably get me a shave ready wedge a little bigger than 5/8 and it sticks up so far out of the scales which may not be original and I don't know what I am looking at, and, and....
and the edge has a spot of rust, But I have never seen one like this with the coffin box in the wild and I just cannot resist even though my bank account is screaming NO. At this point AD kicks in.....
I find a Old Spice mug extremely cheap maybe because the soap is still in it with brush hairs and I only have an old coffee cup with my Williams at home. Apparently at this point one mug is not enough and I get these as well.
My wife drags me out of the last place at that point and now I am at home having a few "Drams" of my "medication"...
So instead of shaving with my back up razor tonight it must wait until morning for safety reasons. Now I have all these choices for my morning shave and more stuff to get hooked up.
I welcome opinions on the razor damage and brush handle, I thought of going with a thater brush when I gathered some cash but wonder if this wood one would take a good knot for cheaper since I cut into the brush fund today?"When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound,

I say feed the addiction bro!
I went looking yesterday and only found 2 razors worth even looking at and they were way over priced. Same with mugs...found 1 but no way was I paying what they wanted.
Congrats!!!Keep it safe and Cheers,
Jer

The same store had another Old Spice mug that was identical over double the cost of that one and I scoffed at it prior to finding that one.
There was a Japanese scuttle that had a picture of Bristol. I would have got that one but way to high as well. Think I will try the scuttle in the morning. Never used one.Last edited by gflight; 07-10-2016 at 02:41 AM. Reason: forgot the overpriced scuttle

Thanked: 1184All nice stuff and hopefully the wife will get it. If not a wise member once said he drags his wife to the closet and points at her shoes :<0)
You will find ways to get what you want The rust doesn't look so bad to me. May take some serious bevel setting to get out but it will still work in the end. I would suggest you sharpen your eye before making too many purchases before guilt sets in. It won't stop you from buying but it will hurt a little.
That last cup with the car on it .... I just got 1 similar in style. Mine came with a slightly used brush that matches. A boar I was not thrilled about using. The thing is, it is the only brush that fits into the hole. Yours might be bigger, just saying so you can think about that if you going to be searching out a brush to match.Last edited by 10Pups; 07-10-2016 at 03:11 PM.

Would you guys keep the scales?
Do you think they are original?
I think I am going to try my hand at restoring the brush and putting a knot in it.
The razor however, is a little above my skill set...."When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound,

Thanked: 1184They make small pucks that might fit. I gave up on that when I tried to get 1 of my smaller brushes in that hole. Not going to brake off a bunch of fur forcing the issue. Just the little I used the brush that came with it I am already causing damage.
Cars are cool, I got Ducks. Will use it to test samples maybe.
